So I began this blog as a creative outlet to express myself through writing and photography. Although it is sprinkled with my photos, tales. and opinions, it is saturated with my nursing experience.
I’m sure a few of my nosy friends will follow along, but this is really a resource to current and future nursing students. Outside of your program-of-choice’s website and allnurses.com, there isn’t much available information to really get an insider’ perspective. This was frustrating for me because I didn’t want the biased answer of the school and allnurses.com lacked feedback on the two schools (SMU and APU) that I was set on.
Good nurses do no eat their young so don’t be afraid to reach out! You are on a challenging, yet rewarding path in healthcare! One quote that forever changed my outlook is:
Be the Change You Wish to See in the World – Gandhi
I decided I want to serve my duty as citizen of this world. The odds are completely against me in making a change, but if I touch just one life my efforts will not be in vain. I want to be the change I wish to see. Let me tell you… I have never changed so much as a person as I have since I started this program. EVERY DAY I am different. EVERY DAY I am learning. EVERY DAY I am challenged. It is hard for anyone to understand that has not gone through a nursing program. My hope is that this blog can be a resource that I so desperately searched for while narrowing down my nursing program choices. Feel free to ask questions or simply comment with feedback!
